THE Israeli and Madang governments will sign a memorandum of understanding on Nov 24.
Governor James Gau said the deal would establish strong bilateral ties.
Women’s Prayer Networking representative Pr Penina Samiat said the arrival of delegates from Israel was an answer to their prayers.
The Israeli delegates are expected to arrive on Nov 23.
A prayer session will be conducted the following day before they return on Nov 25.
Gau said the signing would ensure technical assistance and development of resources for the province and country.
“This has been a seven-year working project in the making,” he said.
He said the success of other countries like China and Japan was a replication of how they preserved their culture.
PNG could portray this by acting and practising the true Melanesian way of life, he said.
“With culture we grow,” he said.
Samiat thanked the provincial government for the coming event.
“We must maintain a downstream processing of our resources,” she said.
“Young people should take pride in their culture.”
She said most youths did not take pride in their culture, opting for other western influences like night-clubbing.
“It is an art that has been lost,” she said.
“Every drum beat and step performed during these cultural dances signify a special setting.”
Samiat said the incorporation of culture into praise and worship was part of a drive to keep these cultures alive.
