WITH two games remaining before the finals, Madang has joined Hekari United and the Lae City Dwellers as the frontrunners for the 2015 Telikom National Soccer League playoffs.

With a gusty 2-1 win over Oro at home on Saturday, Madang moved to third spot with 17 points behind competition pace-setters, Hekari (20) and Lae (19).

Coach Francis Moiyap said from Madang that his side were more desperate for the win and played that way.

Madang must win their remaining matches against Hekari and Admiralty to cement a spot in the top four.

Admiralty will not pose as big a problem as Hekari but Moiyap said anything was possible — especially after last-placed Besta United shocked the defending champions 2-1 in the previous round.

Madang need some results to go their way. They need second-placed Lae to loss their final two matches against Besta and Hekari in order to consolidate their spot.

If Madang make the top four, it will their first time to qualify for playoffs since their first appearance in 2010.

The Lae-Besta match has been rescheduled to Wednesday at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium while the Hekari-Port Moresby clash will be played at a later date.
