POLICE in Madang were given a boost with 12 new vehicles from MP and Police Minister Bryan Kramer on Friday.
Madang Police Commander Acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang thanked Kramer and assured him that his officers would use the vehicles to serve the people of Madang.
He said the vehicles would greatly improve policing in the district. Kramer urged police officers to use the vehicles for its intended purpose.
The vehicles were purchased through a partnership between the Police Department, which contributed K1 million, and the Madang development authority, which counter funded K1 million.
Kramer said eight of the 12 vehicles would be at the Transgogol area – four at South Ambenob and four at North Ambenob – while the other four would be used in Madang town.
He said the plan was for the vehicles to serve Transgogol villages. He said people in Transgogol had problems getting police assistance but now the vehicles would be in the villages with a police officer to attend to complaints.
He also added that he was planning to build a rural police post and police accommodation in the Transgogol area so the vehicle and the police officers could be deployed there.

  • Thank you Minister. Also think about Housing or a new Barracks for Police Personnel at your electorate so they live away from settlements or Villages.

  • Tokim ol police lo lukautim ol kar gut, na strik lo police wok tasol- eino blo karim bia spak na paulim meri. The vehicles are to be used strictly for police work. MInister Kramer should be commended

  • As they say”One cannot teach an old dog a new trick”. But, hopefully this time police officers there will not abuse and misuse the vehicles as is common in this country.
