MADANG Rugby have finalised their two sides for the JKT LIM Trans Highway Sevens in Lae for next Saturday and Sunday, after two trial matches last weekend.
Team One, MadGauns, have retained the bulk of players from last November’s trophy winning side, and will be looking to improve on their Bowl winning performance in the inaugural Trans-Highway Sevens early last year.
Madang Technical School student Andy Yama will once again captain the team along with Tui Fitiao, Ian Gore, Henry Levi, Danny Polong, Eddie Sibolo and Willie Lakman.
Newcomer Peter Kolkia has great potential to make his mark at the tournament while Victor Manab has been rewarded for his hard work and commitment.
Team Two, Kalibobo, comprise of evergreen skipper Danam Kuso, Warkia Polong, Veva Hoki, Martin Avi, Masella Zale and Lloyd Laurie.
The team made the Plate finals in the same tournament last year, so they are looking at creating havoc with the inclusion of youngster and Tusbab Secondary School student Mika Zale, McKenzie Moka and Papa Joseph. Young Zale is a talent lately unearthed, and is sure to grab this opportunity.
Both Geoffrey Bai and Paul Joseph will coach the teams with able-assistance from Matagal Tamilong.
MARFU have again appealed to the Madang business houses for assistance in cash and kind as most of the players are unemployed youths, ready to meet the challenge for the province.
The rest of the team- MadGauns Yakson Yakumai, Warkia Polong, Ferdinand Ban and team manager Damien Sakipa, while Victor Manab, Ben Aro, Gary Girimotu, Papa Joseph, Nason Tambar and team manager Pater Aiwa make up the rest of the Kalibobo side.
