Madang students visit Ramu NiCo sites

 MADANG students in Madang visited Ramu NiCo recently to mark World Environment Day.

The first and second year primary teaching degree students from the Madang Teachers College along with students from Tusbab Secondary School in Madang celebrated World Environment Day at the Ramu NiCo ‘Glass House’ where they were shown various phases of the nickel-cobalt extraction and how rehabilitation measures are being taken to protect the environment by the country’s first nickel project

Ramu NiCo opened the opened the month’s activities on Monday with a video conferencing involving all sites.

Chairman Zhao Shimin encouraged all Ramu NiCo employees to be serious and observant to environmental safety.

The celebration’s theme for this year is “Think. Eat. Save. Reduce your footprint”.

Various ecology awareness activities will be held in all three Ramu NiCo sites, including Kurumbukari mine site, Basamuk refinery and Madang operational base.
