THE Madang provincial government grounded all its vehicles last week to take stock of all assets in the province.
All officers were forced to walk or catch PMVs last week when acting provincial administrator Joseph Bonomane issued a notice to have all vehicles grounded.
Vehicles from all government sectors, including ambulances bought using government funds, were grounded.
Those not grounded were the ones bought by politicians or political officers through district development authority arrangements.
Bonomane said the Madang public service was not in order and he, as newly-appointed acting provincial administrator, wanted to get things right.
He said all public servants supposed to be serving in districts would be asked to return.
Bonomane said they started with Middle Ramu last week.
Madang Governor Peter Yama said public servants who were not happy with how Bonomane was doing things must talk directly to him.
He said Madang was looking forward to a major facelift within districts, starting with Middle Ramu.
He called on all Middle Ramu public servants to return to Aiome government station to revive service delivery to the district.
Meanwhile, Raicoast MP Peter Sapia has thanked the Government for making funds available to rebuild Raicoast and Middle Ramu districts.
National Planning and Monitoring Minister Richard Maru made a commitment two weeks ago to fund Raicoast and Middle Ramu infrastructure.
He said verbal assurance had been given by the Government for the construction of the Raicoast Road.
“I thank this Government for considering our priority needs and stepping in to assist,” Sapia said.
