SENIOR magistrate Cosmas Bidar has expressed disappointment over the lack of communication between investigation officers and prosecutors.
“It is not the first time I have mention this; investigators and police prosecutors have to work in constant dialogue to unsure that files on every case have instructions before bringing it to the court,” he said.
“There a serious matters which involves foreigners coming into our country forging official government documents, including work permits, school certificates and driver’s license.”
Bidar expressed his concern after finding out that prosecutor Sgt Joseph Sangam did not have the file instruction against Sumon Dewan who was charged with four counts of forgery and four counts of fraudulently uttering government official documents.
Dewan, 30, from Nurbang, Bangladesh was charged with producing forged school certificate, driving license and work permit.
Dewan’s Lawyer Sikio Uyassi asked the court to consider the fact that Dewan’s case has being kept for more than three months which has lapsed the period given to the police to do investigation.
Because of the serious nature of the matter that involved a foreigner, Bidar ruled in favour of Sangam to adjourn the case for another two weeks to find the file against Dewan.
The case is adjourned to Oct 21.
