Magistrate right to keep Pang in custody

Letters

As appeared in The National (Thursday, Nov 25 – Pg2), Sanctuary Hotel operation manager Jamie Pang’s lawyer asked the court for bail due to a medical condition this is nothing but a lame excuse.
As clearly stated by the presiding Magistrate Gary Anjo, Pang was caught red-handed processing chemicals, how on Earth can anyone trust when he says that he is sick?
If he was sick, he wouldn’t be caught processing chemicals.
His lawyer must be a learned lawyer who failed to defend him well seeking bail.
The magistrate is commended for refusing the bail application because as soon as Pang is out, he will definitely influence the evidence and tamper with anything that can be used against him in the case.
Such is a case when a culprit is taken into custody, bail application is automatically sought under medication conditions.
Lawyers representing the culprits must also act in a good faith and not be biased in defending your client just to make more money.
On the other hand, judges and magistrates are not fools to be influenced by lame excuses put forward by their lawyers.
Pang deserves to be kept in custody without bail under medication conditions as it’s obvious that he was not sick at the time of being caught red-handed.
