WAIGANI Police Station personnel have been reminded to maintain discipline and improve their policing duties.
Second officer-in-charge Chief Sergeant Andrew Geluwa said during the first parade last week that there were challenges for them.
“The police hierarchy has been stressing a lot on the discipline in the force that we as policemen and women have been lacking,” he said.
“So it is a reminder for us to make a change this year and concentrate in fighting crime and policing duties in the areas that we look after.”
Geluwa said they had to start preparing for major events such as the 2017 elections and 2018 Apec.
He added that the first parade conducted for this year was important to inform the officers of the decisions that were made by the hierarchy.
“Disseminating information from the hierarchy down is very important to get officers prepared for the challenges ahead,” Geluwa said.
