NO citizen or a foreigner has the right to alter or amend Papua New Guinea’s National Anthem in any way and for whatever purpose.

Not even the Sports Minister or the Prime Minister who are only the custodians there to provide guardianship.

For generations we have respected this national anthem as our national identity of who we are and where we come from while paying honor and respect to our forefathers for bringing this country to where we are today.

I am so sadden today that somebody who doesn’t has any respect at all to our culture has finally came up with a foreign, non-sense idea to alter the national anthem’s lyrics and has made a big damage already to our national identity.

Never in the history of our country have I heard or learn of our country’s National Anthem’s lyrics being altered since independence and this is the first of its kind.

It is totally unacceptable and a total disgrace and is of huge disrespect to us, the people of this great nation that somebody has destroyed one of our national icon thus destroying our identity as well as rightful Papua New Guineans.

The damage has been done already and we demand an investigation into this matter and its findings be made public and a tough penalty be applied to those responsible.
