Make mothers happy

Letters

A NATION can have the longest constitution, the most magnificent Parliament, and public servants – in full attires – discussing foreign concepts to implement which are not applicable in our societies.
Leaders attending high profile seminars, workshops and meetings in some of the luxurious hotels and delivering speeches about billion kina budgets – explaining in expensive economic and accounting jargon impressing the most corporate giants and consultants who take it as the opportunity to milk and get their accounts fatter every day.
The reality lies in the rural areas of Papua New Guinea.
The everyday struggles of our mothers reflects the family units in the communities.
When you see mothers sitting by the road sides selling greens in the heavy rains, crossing the flooding rivers from gardens, it is the love of their family that demands her to struggle every day.
Her heart of gold contains her family – the reason she fight hard every day.
When a family is struggling, it’s the community struggling and it reflects the community’s lifestyle.
It reflects the state of the nation.
A nation is built with a citizen and a mother struggling to feed her family is the reflection of a nation.
Our 60 page submissions and concept papers discussed in hotels, taking expensive trips overseas to talk about little things is a waste of money and resources.
Real issues needs to be addressed at the community level.
The definition of development is not developing Port Moresby with high rise building and erecting billboards to impress donors.
Attending the United Nations General Assembly, global meetings and international occasions is a mere representations.
A representation that has no relations or tied to the real issues faced each day by our mothers, families and communities.
A nation that sees the need of mothers is a nation with solid foundation, a country with integrity and love for its citizens.
Let’s make mothers happy!
