Make TV stations free for viewing

Letters

INFORMATION is power and the citizens of this nation have every right to access information about its government, the bureaucracy and the economy of this country – free of charge.
I am concerned because the state-owned National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) TV is no longer free to air through DigicelPlay.
DigicelPlay clients who access TV services through the red disks are missing out on NBC TV and EMTV which are being paid for.
Remember not all clients are able to subscribe to watch those two TV stations which were previously free.
What is Digicel really doing here? Is it here to rob us of our rights to access information broadcasted through the two TV stations?
Even the daily, weekly and monthly subscription rates are way up there.
Is the government and responsible authorities aware of this ongoing issues affecting the general populace?
Are there any stringent policies in place that companies such as Digicel could comply with?
We are wondering if there are any regulatory body in place to control this.
Why is the government so ignorant about the suffering of its people?
The people are suffering in silence in a country where GDP and CPIs are way below coupled with high inflation rates and corruption.
The government needs to speak for its people. We don’t want to create an anarchy here.
Let us start by allowing the two national TV stations to broadcast free.
Digicel has other multiple channels that it can make money from.
