HEALTH and HIV/Aids Minister Michael Malabag plans to transform Gerehu St John clinic into a general hospital.
He believes it is the right thing to do because of the high number of patients admitted there.
“I want to raise the standard of Gerehu clinic operated by
St John from a clinic into a general hospital. The number of patients going there is massive,” Malabag said.
“You go in there night or day and just see how many people are there waiting”
As a Moresby Northwest MP who won through the People’s National Congress party banner, he wanted to provide the people of his electorate access to health services and free essential health services.
“Our people must get to feel it and see it. People need to feel the government services in our respective electorates and I think raising Gerehu clinic to a general hospital would be one way of giving services to our people,” Malabag said.
He said he also intended to open a Tokarara clinic and one at Waigani.
