LAE City defender Nigel Malagian remains hopeful of returning to football in some capacity as he continues his recovery from a mild stroke he had suffered two months ago.
Whether the 24-year-old laces up his boots for a remarkable return to the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League remains to be seen but the former Tusbab Stallions skipper is only worried his recovery – for now.
“I’m in Port Moresby and still waiting for an MRI (magnetic resonance image) scan from the Pacific International Hospital,” Malagian told The National yesterday.
“Once I get the scan done, I can return to Lae to continue my rehabilitation and physiotherapy. My medical expenses and accommodation have been covered by City sponsor Lae Biscuit Company and I’m grateful for their support towards my recovery.
” Last month, the entire left side of my body was mostly paralysed.
“But I had sessions with a physiotherapist who gave me some small exercises and now I’m able to stand and move around more, so that’s a positive step in my recovery.”
Malagian, who joined reigning champions City on a mid-season transfer this year, said he would take the field again if and when he made a full recovery.
