Malaysian group gives K50,000 to Caritas

The Malaysian Association of PNG donated K50,000 to the Caritas Learning Centre in Port Moresby to help provide meals for the children attending it.
Director of the centre Sister Enorina Kim expressed gratitude to the association for the donation and said that it would be used to provide healthy meals to 325 children who attended the centre daily.
SrĀ  Kim said the association had been helpingthe centre since its inception 11 years ago.
The centre provides basic education for the children aged 8 to 11 years from the surrounding community.
Association fundraising committee chairman Ivan Lu said that the funds donated were actually raised last year from events.
He said the association had donated more than K365,000 to the centre over the last 11 years and that it was happy and committed to help the centre.
Malaysian High Commissioner Datuk Jilid Kuminding presented the donation. He urged the students to take the opportunity to study hard and to learn as much as they could in order to become successful.
He thanked the association for its support and said the centre had change in terms of new classrooms, facilities and equipment.
