THE Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPNG) raised K900,000 through its charity golf event held on Friday at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club.

Of that money, K160,000 will go towards the Port Moresby General Hospital.

Association organising committee member Ivan Lu said they had raised more than what they had achieved last year.

“We have 176 organisations that contribute towards this annual event in the form of donations or through participation in our charity golf,” Lu said.

“And this year, 42 teams took part in the one-day golf, raising K126,000, while K220,000 came from the sale of raffle tickets and draws.”

An auction during the presentation on Saturday at the Dynasty Restaurant, saw 16 items going under the hammer, with the highest bid of K39,999 for an oil painting.

They raised K125,000 from the auction, while K775,000 was raised during golf, making it another successful year for the association.

“Every year, the amount increases. It just shows the amount of commitment organisations show towards such charity events,” Lu said.
