Male sex trade ‘increasing’

THE number of young men engaging themselves in the sex trade in Port Moresby has increased, according to a local pimp.
He spoke to The National on the condition of anonymity yesterday.
He said the main clients for these men, mostly university and college students, were older woman.
“The older women are businesswomen, wives of businessmen, some are widowed or divorced,” he said.
He said it was different from what female prostitutes do.
“(In this case), the women take the young boys out, buy them beer, have sex and then they give them money,” he said.
“Most times, these female clients are involved with the same guy, unlike female prostitutes who have different clients.
“These young men have only one client.”
He said the older women sometimes even paid for their school fees, gave them cars and paid them a fortnightly allowance.
He said “male prostitution” was more “organised”.
“Many people don’t see it as male prostitution,” he said.
“They say the young men are tricking the older women to get money from her.
“But no one will condemn it.
“So it is practised publicly and freely.”
He said the Government should legalise it so it can be regulated to some extent.
“There are many young men and women now into prostitution and it is something that is here to stay,” he said.

  • I think that these types of activities are usually practice in urban areas(towns &cities).
    They are not suppose to do but in order to sustain or safe his or her life they are practicing that.Life is fundamental,so we can find our means and ways to maintain our living standard.
    I’m not encouraging them but root cause of increasing the male sex in PNG is because of saving the life of people especially the people who are reciding in towns and cities.
    In brief, sex and bravery is a crime and it is againsting the constitution (mama lo)of the country so simply police need to investigate and solve these problems.

    The moral authority this country will adhere to is found in the BIBLE and whoever wishes to engage in illicit sexual activities can do so at their own peril.

  • Port Moresby’s way of life is a far cry from the rest of PNG’s towns and villages. Laws must be made to protect every citizen and not just a bunch of sex maniacs in Port Moresby.

    • So how do explain the numerous FB, WhatsApp, IMO, Telegram, Pepperonity, etc. (social media platforms) and online dating sites that people in PNG no matter where they are using to ’hook up’? Legalise Prostitution! Prostitute are not lazy they are selling sec because there’s a demand for it out there even if it is illegal in PNG or wherever else. Sex has become a commodity.

  • PNG is a Christian soverign nation and we all are bound to constitutional laws in place. Therefore, whoever willing to be engaged in such illegal illicit sexual activities may go ahead and do on their own will but our law enforcers MUST check out and punish those culprits.

  • It should not be legalised rather it be abolished. Moral principal of marriage is out of order as Gay/ lessbian being legalised many countries.
    PNG is a Christian country and we fear God, proustition is wrong and men and women, young or married,
    The Lord says in his commandments,
    Thou shall not commit adultery. And those who persist on doing it may face the consequences thereafter.

  • These elicit dirty practices only applicable to human beings don’t understand their own manual and their essence of life. The creator command his own people not to live with materialistic things of this world but to live with the word which is the bible. Terribly sorry for them missing both blessings life on earth and eternal life after death.

  • It’s said to be the oldest profession in the world, and will continue exist as long as humans walk the earth. It an never be stopped, so regulate to control it. Better to keep an open eye on it than to turn a blind eye on it.

  • Fellow Citizens, think of Sodom and Gomorrah during the days of Lot, he gave his daughters to have sex with but they even asked for the angels who were with Lot. We are in the 21st century and sex life will definitely increase.
    Older men and women will feel the real taste of sex then the younger ones. School kids of age 10 – 12 yrs will favor more on the very oldest people simple to have few toea in their pocket for lunch hour spending.
    BUT REMEMBER THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH and the worse sin of all is the sex life as this involves in contaminating the temple of God.

  • There is no law broken as long as there is a CONSENT between the two partys. This either same sex or ves vasa. A student gets his Paper it is up to him/her to stick together or go their ways.

  • Prostitution was practised in the valley of sodom and gomoreah and we know what had happened to it. PnG is a Christian nation and the government need to ban this kind of practise otherwise we are in a doom to destruction.   • Pom City life is hard. These young men whether at high schools and tertiary institutions or not, have been selling sex not ”sugar mummies” they have bisexual and gay men. Some are married men.

    Ask the taxi drivers and believe me they will tell you a lot more than you know. Scan the FB and you will discover for yourself.

    My only concern is are they practicing safe sex. STDs and HIV is easily transmitted through unsafe sex.

    Legalise prostitution so it can be regulated with the right practices and safety standards can be put in place. Decriminalise LGBTQ. so people are allowed to leave their lives openly and honestly. And respect and learn to tolerate others who are different. They are fellow human beings first before their sexual orientation.

  • sex is a desire and those who are not satisfied by their partner at home tend to pay for it when they have the money so its better to understand and satisfy your partner rather than ignoring them when they desire.

  • Government has to create job employment for this young generation so they can look after themselves by getting employed rather then doing this.

  • Our poor parents raised us to go for studies. Many of us are University Degree holders, colleges and have certificates in other private or public institutions in this Country.
    Those fortunate ones secured spaces while majority of them are still looking for jobs around, mainly in our main cities.
    While on the process of finding job, perhaps those women with wealth are providing necessary things for us to sustain our living.
    However, there are alot of problems in terms of health and wellbeing of the future leaders of this country.
    To conclude, everythings that are hapoening in and around the country still goes back to our government or leaders. Job opportunuties are very scarce so how shall we Take Back PNG and gain Economic Independence???

    Profoundly, its real and happening year in and year out, however, in the course of reading the article comes something odd and you will pick out without delay, someone unproductive is making up a story to steal the attention of the people or either, distract a mind of a big shot or people who have the positive mind of thinking in life.
