Man accused of murder to stand trial
THE Lae Committal Court has committed a man to stand trial in the National Court after it found sufficient evidence of his alleged involvement in the killing of another man last July.
Angu Tandak, from Liagap village in Enga, was charged with the wilful murder of Arie Tom on July 17, last year, at Menyamya Compound near Bowerbird St in China Town, Lae.
The court, in committing Tandak, asked if he had anything to say as his section 96 statement to exercise his right or to remain silent and speak through his lawyer during the trial.
Magistrate Tera Dawai told Tandak that whatever he said in court would be recorded and used at his trial.
Magistrate Dawai reminded him that only the National Court, through a trial, would prove whether Tandak was guilty or not guilty of the charge.
