The National, Monday July 18th, 2016

A businessman charged with selling illegal items appeared before the Lae District Court last Tuesday.
The court heard that Peter Chang was involved in the trading of GM Goldmine shoes which were regarded as illegal in the country. He is on a K2000 bail.
Magistrate Jeremiah Singomat said the country’s law did not allow people to sell items that were considered illegal.
“Our law does not allow citizens of this nation as well as foreigners to engage in trading illegal items,” he said.
He was advised by the magistrate to engage a lawyer to assist him in the case.
Singomat warned him not to interfere with witnesses and to report to his arresting officer whenever he requested.
