A MAN was murdered at Kumlogor village at Duke of York Island, East New Britain, last Wednesday.
According to the reports received from a reliable source, who did not want to be identified, the deceased had been a trouble maker in the community.
The source identified the deceased as Kumlogor native Issac Blaise, married with three children.
Reports said Blaise had been disliked by the community because of his bad attitude and lack of respect.
The Kumlogor community had grown tired of Blaise’s behaviour and allegedly cplotted to attack him around 7pm, before the first State of Origin match.
The killing was not related to the State of Origin game as it took place an hour before it when members of the village attacked and killed him as he was causing a disturbance.
The reports said Blaise was allegedly drunk at the time of the attack.
The source, who witnessed the killing, said Kumlogor villagers used weapons like bush knives, a fishing spear and an axe in the attack.
The National was at the Kokopo beachfront yesterday to see the body which was brought in on an out-board motor boat. The deceased’s body had sustained multiple wounds over his body.
Kokopo police confirmed receiving the report but could not give full details of the incident.
Police officers are investigating the killing and are expected to make arrests in the coming days.
The body of the deceased is now in the Nonga hospital morgue.
