Man bashes wife in front of police bosses

A VIOLENT husband was arrested just outside the police headquarters at Konedobu in Port Moresby on Friday for allegedly attacking his wife with a stick and a knife in full view of the city’s police hierarchy.
Top police officials including acting deputy commissioner of operations, Raphael Huafolo, NCD/ Central provincial commander Chief Supt Awan Sete, Metropolitan Commander Chief Supt Fred Yakasa and chief of operations, Supt Andy Bawa, who were taking part in a press conference on the Bomana jailbreak, were shocked by the attack right before their eyes.
The couple was strolling past the police headquarters in front of the Police Department heavies and media personnel when the husband suddenly struck the wife, who fainted in a pool of blood.
Supt Bawa quickly intervened, grabbing the stick from the husband and attending to the injured woman who sustained a bloody nose and a cut to the right cheek.
The husband was later taken to the Boroko police station, where he was charged with assault.
