A MAN was beheaded in the only tragic incident in Wau town, Bulolo district, Morobe province, during the festive period.
Police says the man was of Goilala and Garaina parentage.
Wau police station commander Mathew Kawa confirmed that the killing took place on Dec 28.
He said two men had an argument in the presence of other men in a residential area.
The argument developed into threats before the killing took place.
Kawa said the victim did not know that the man he was arguing with had a bush knife hidden in his trousers.
He said the attacker pulled out the knife and swung it at the neck of the Goilala man while he was looking for a weapon to also attack the other man.
The suspect had gone into hiding afterwards and Kawa and his team of policemen negotiated for two days for his surrender.
The man is now in police custody.
