Lae News, Normal

A MAN has been committed to stand trial at the National Court in Lae later this month for punching another man and leaving him blind on his left eye at Three-Mile, Lae, in 2006.
Henry Matume, 46, from Kemui village, Okapa in Eastern Highlands province, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to one Revah Hafime, contravening to section 319 (1) of the criminal code.
He appeared before district committal magistrate Posain Poloh yesterday.
Court documents stated that on April 30, 2006, at 6pm, Matume was at Three-Mile with others when he fought with Hafime.
It was alleged that Matume punched Hafime on his left eye with a knuckle duster (ring).
Hafime was taken to the hospital.
An eye specialist confirmed that the result of the damage he received was permanent and had left his left eye blind.
