Man charged after trying to steal car

PEOPLE went to the aid of a car owner being attacked by a man allegedly trying to steal the car, arrested him and handed him over to police.
Appearing before Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar, Felix Ginani, 33, from Rigo in Central, was charged with conspiring with others to cause grievous bodily harm to Arava Tarakatau Ravu.
The incident happened at Era Kone, Ela Beach, in Port Moresby on Jan 19.
Magistrate Bidar adjourned the matter to Feb 28 to allow police a month to complete their investigations and finalise the prosecution case.
Police allege that Ginani and others had tried to steal the vehicle belonging to Ravu. Ginani was identified as the one who allegedly attacked Ravu with a knife.
People who saw what was happening ran to Ravu’s aid, arrested Ginani and handed him over to the police.
