A FORMER caretaker of the Papua New Guinea Teachers Association has been charged with misappropriating more than K138,000 two months after his appointment in May.
Andric Yagro of Bogumatai village in Wewak, is believed to have transferred a total of K138,226.10 from the association’s payroll account to the accounts of his family members and friends, National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Director Chief Superintendent Mathew Damaru said yesterday.
Yagro was appointed to the position by the industrial registrar following the suspension of general secretary Ugwalubu Mowana.
Mowana was reinstated by the National Court recently and he discovered the alleged theft.
Damaru said Yagro was released on K1000 bail.
