Man charged with murder

POLICE in Wewak have charged a man with murder following a birthday party killing at Beklam village, Drekirkir, East Sepik, last month.
Provincial police commander Supt Albert Beli said villager Alford Borungai died after he was stabbed during the party allegedly by the man who had invited him there.
He said they were drinking at a house on Kaindi Junction when a row began between the two men.
Supt Beli said the man swung a bush knife at Borungai, hitting him three times on the hand and one on his head.
“The deceased (Borungai) was pronounced dead at the hospital and the matter reported to the police,” he said.
Police arrested the man on Nov 20 at Sepik Timbers.
He was charged with murder.
