Man charged with robbery out on bail

A MAN charged with unlawful wounding and robbery appeared before Magistrate Cosmas Bidar at the Waigani Committal Court yesterday.

Hillary Weni, 25, from Tauwete village, Lumi, West Sepik, and three others are alleged to have committed the offences on May 26 at Jackson International Airport in Port Moresby.

Weni was charged with eight counts of robbery and one count of unlawful wounding.

Weni and others were alleged to have used police guns to rob their victims of cash, mobile phones and identification cards. 

Police said 31 people were injured by Weni and others.

Bidar told Weni the case would go through committal proceedings.

Weni is out on a K1,500 bail and will appear for mention on Nov 7.
