Man dies while swimming with friends

A FILIPINO man died while swimming with his friends at Naringel Beach in the Los Negros local level government of Manus last Sunday, police said.
Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the deceased was identified.
He was employed by the Papindo Group of Companies as a civil engineer and was married with a child. The incident happened between 2pm and 3pm.
“He dived into the sea once and came out and the second time when he dived into the sea, he did not come up like the first time but was floating,” Chief Insp Yapu said.
“His friends noticed that he was floating and went out to check him and noticed that he was not breathing and saliva was coming out from his mouth.
“He was dragged to the shore and was given first aid was but it was unsuccessful.
“He was rushed to Lorengau General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.”
Chief Insp Yapu said the body was in the morgue waiting for an autopsy.
