AN eight-year-old girl who was given away to another family six years ago has been abducted by her biological father from East Taraka, in Lae, and taken to Port Moresby on Monday.
And the woman who has been the mother to the girl for six years has decried the action, saying the biological father could have thanked her for looking after the child.
Pauline Mathias, a mother of five other children, said she had adopted Gina Mathias into her family six years ago at Pina village, in Wabag, Enga province, after her parents decided to give her away.
Mathias said Gina’s father, Mayak Kalake, had arrived from Wabag last week and lived with them at their East Taraka home.
She said they suspected he had planned to take his daughter away.
After Gina went missing on Monday, Kalake called the frantic family to say he had taken her with him to Port Moresby.
A distraught Mathias said it was a sad situation when one had adopted a child into a home to be part of the family
and after years of sacrifice, the biological parents turned up and take the child away without a word of thanks.
