A 22-YEAR-OLD man is to stand trial in the National Court for assaulting a 90-year-old retired soldier on Jan 19.
Waigani magistrate Cosmas Bidar yesterday ruled that there was sufficient evidence to commit Vincent Moripi to face charges of causing grievous bodily harm in the National
Court.
Moripi, from Moveave Gulf’s Malalauna, is alleged to have confronted Waiut Mutuiana at about 7pm in Taurama Barracks and questioned his suspicious movements.
Moripi’s sister and a relative were sick and he accused Mutuiana of practicing sorcery against his family.
Moripi allegedly punched Mutuiana, a former Papua New Guinea Defence Force serviceman, in the face and mouth, causing him to lose a tooth.
A report was lodged with the Hohola Police station and Moripi was arrested and charged with one count of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He is out on K1,000 bail.
