A MAN who tried to withdraw a court case against his wife at the “11th hour” was yesterday fined K500 by a magistrate for abusing the court process.

Manus Kanjiong, 47, from Birip village, Wabag, Enga, surprised the Lae District Court when he asked that an assault case he instituted against his wife, Netes Wan, be withdrawn.

The court was surprised because Kanjiong had swore an oath to give evidence against his wife but later wanted to withdraw the case.

Kanjiong told the court he felt sorry for his wife but magistrate Nasaling Bingtau told him that his action was a mockery of the court and he had abused the court process.

Bingtau told him not to play up with the court and fined him.
