A COURT has fined a man K300 in default six months in jail term for stealing K12 from another man in Lae.
Mathew Lucas, 29, from Kundiawa in Chimbu appeared before Lae District Court Magistrate Tera Dawai charged with stealing. Lucas admitted stealing a K10 note and a K2 note from the bag of a man.
The court was told that on Oct 28, Lucas was at Lae’s Main Market bus stop when he saw a man carrying his cargo to a vehicle. He walked towards him and picked the money from the man’s bilum. Police nearby were alerted and arrested Lucas. They recovered the K12 he took from the bag. He had two previous convictions.
