POLICE say an alleged drug abuser hacked a man to death in West Sepik last Tuesday.
Police identified the deceased as Hery Urape from Aluni village in the Koroba-Lake Kopiago of Hela.
Telefomin police commander Sergeant Prais Kaiyus said Urape with other villagers were doing community work near the Strickland River when he was assaulted.
His relatives were paid K34,000 and five pigs as compensation by the alleged killer’s relatives last week.
He said Urape’s relatives from Hela were still not satisfied and went to Oksapmin, where the alleged killer was from, demanding to kill a man from there.
