Man in court charged with daughter’s murder

A man who was charged with the murder of his three-year-old daughter appeared for mention in the Waigani Committal Court on Friday.
Peter Kaita Aloysius, 26 and from Oroipo village in the Tapini district of Central, allegedly killed his daughter while trying to attack his wife with a stone on February 23 in Gabutu, Port Moresby.
“It is an unfortunate case that the defendant (Aloysius), while arguing with his wife over his stolen money, tried to stone her but the stone hit his daughter,” Magistrate Cosmos Bidar told the court.
The court heard that a brief had been given to Aloysius by the prosecution, but police were still waiting for medical reports from the Port Moresby General Hospital.
He will return to court on July 8.
