A-22-YEAR-OLD man is in court for allegedly raping his niece three times on the same day last year.
Gata Gomara, from Papa village, Hiri, Central, stood before Magistrate Marcus Nandape in the Central Committal Court yesterday.
It was alleged that the rapes took place on May 2, 2018, while the victim, who was 11 years old then, was living with her foster mother at Papa.
The victim was sent by her foster mother in the morning to buy rice for breakfast at a nearby trade store when Gomara confronted her.
The accused lured the girl to the beach and pulled her into the mangroves and raped her.
Later that afternoon, the victim was sent on another errand by her foster mother and came across Gomara again near the scene of the first attack.
She was alledgedly attacked and knocked down by the accused who then proceeded to rape her for the second time.
Gomara then alledgedly instructed her to swim in the sea while he waited and when she came out he raped her a third time.
She returned home and told her parents about the incident four days later, after overhearing them discussing a similar incident that happened to her cousin.
She was taken to the local clinic for treatment before being transferred over to Port Moresby General Hospital.
Gomara was arrested and detained by police on May 12 after the girl’s family reported the matter to CID Central police.
Magistrate Nandape adjourned the matter to Oct 1 for submissions while Gomara was remanded in custody.

  • This is so animalistic, what kind of a mindset would such a person have to harm (rape) a little girl like that. This is so sad, the girl would be traumatized for the rest of her life. This worst would be the time she faces adolescence.
Foster parents should be extra sensitive to children that were entrusted to you.

  • Gata Gomara, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
