A MAN who allegedly cut off the arms of another man he accused of having an affair with his wife has appeared in court.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar said Hitolo Kairi from Ihu in Gulf allegedly committed the offence on July 9 last year at June Valley but the police files were received only last Wednesday. Bidar adjourned the case to next month to give time to police to investigate the case.
Bidar told the court that the incident took place at around 1am when Kairi was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drug.
“The accused was consuming beer at the same time smoking drug when the victim walked past him,” Bidar said.
“Upon seeing the victim, the accused now already under the influence, recalled his wife’s past affair with the victim, went straight to the victim and cut both his arms with a bush knife.”
Bidar, when granting a K300 bail to Kairi, told him to honour his bail conditions.
