Man in court for bashing woman

 A MAN facing assault charges after he allegedly bashed a woman in a police barracks in Port Moresby appeared at the Waigani Committal Court for mention yesterday. 

John Bain, from Jiwaka, allegedly assaulted the female at the Tasion Police Barracks at Gerehu last Thursday. 

Bain is out on bail and will reappear in court on July 29. 

The court imposed a bail condition that prevents Bain from interfering with the victim and State witnesses. 

Magistrate Pinnison Pindipia warned Bain that he would be held in custody if he breached the conditions. 

Pindipia told Bain that the purpose of the committal court was to consider if the evidence was sufficient to refer the case to the National Court.
