A MAN who was alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm to a pregnant woman appeared for mention at the Waigani committal court last Thursday.
Samson Dupai, 28, from Nebilyer district Western Highlands, allegedly attacked Rachel Yamba using a piece of timber to hit her on the head at Tokarara market in Port Moresby, on March 22.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar told Dupai that police would conduct further investigations into the incident.
It was alleged that the March 22 attack by Dupai on Yamba was the second. The first happened on Feb 2 where Dupai went to Yamba’s house and argued and assaulted her, which resulted in Dupai being wounded on the abdomen.
The matter was not resolved so the accused attacked her again on March 22. She was pregnant at that time.
Yamba was rushed to the hospital and had seven stiches to her wound.
The matter will return to court on July 7.
