A man is defending himself in court for allegedly stealing three German shepherd puppies valued at K9,000 before selling them for K300.
The Waigani Committal Court heard that Jude Thomas Ambo, of Kasi village, Kompiam-Ambum, Enga, allegedly stole the puppies worth K3,000 each from a woman before selling them at K100 each to an unknown person at the Manu market in Port Moresby.
Magistrate Garry Unjo adjourned the case to Dec 7 for Ambo’s second mention. Ambo remains in custody.
Police alleged that on Oct 15, between 1pm and 3pm, while the complainant was away at work, Ambo entered her premises and stole the three puppies.
The woman began asking around after realising that the puppies were missing.
She was told by a market vendor that Ambo came and took the puppies away.
Her inquiries led her to finding out that the puppies were sold for K100 each by the accused at Manu market to an unknown person. She reported it to Waigani police and Ambo was detained at a holding cell and later charged with stealing.
