Man nabbed with hand grenade pleads guilty

A MAN from Eastern Highlands, who was caught with a hand grenade in his possession in front of a Government building in Port Moresby, will return to the Boroko District Court on Tuesday for submissions on sentence before Magistrate Kari Poawai.
Fuksy Jack, 27, of Niaguna village, Henganofi, Eastern Highlands, will appear from remand when Police Prosecutor Snr Const Mol Siboa presents his submissions on the appropriate penalty after Jack had pleaded guilty to being in possession of an offensive weapon.
On June 22, between 11am and 1pm, Jack was at the Department of Lands car park in Port Moresby.
Police received a tip-off that Jack had a hand grenade, and were able to arrest him.
Police confiscated from him a live olive-green and red-band hand grenade and took him to the Sir John Guise Stadium for questioning.
Officials confirmed that it was a M26 L2A1 grenade with high explosives, weighing 395g.
