WAGHI Tumbe centre Valentine Wamdi says he is happy about his Digicel Cup form as he aims to maintain it in week two of the finals.
The 21-year-old scored a try through individual brilliance in his side’s elimination final win over Rabaul Gurias yesterday.
Wamdi was named as the man of the match — his second-straight award.
“I’m satisfied with my performances this season as I know I’ve been playing consistent week in, week out,” the Jiwaka native said after the game.
“My short-term goal now is to help Tumbe go all the way to the grand final.
“We are playing some quality rugby league and we just have to maintain that.”
Wamdi said his long-term goal in rugby league was to earn selection into the SP Hunters.
“To play for Hunters is always my dream and if I can play well then who knows I might get a Hunters call-up,” he said.
“But my priority is to play well for Tumbe for the remainder of the finals series.”
Wamdi said it was only his first year in Tumbe colours.
“I had been with Enga Mioks over the last two seasons,” he said.
