A 36-YEAR-OLD man accused of raping a minor was committed to face trial at the National Court after a court found sufficient evidence against him.
Logan Iruno, 35, from Numba village in Fore, Northern, appeared before the Committal Court at Waigani for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl at ATS settlement in Port Moresby on Oct 25 last year.
It was alleged that between 9am and 3pm, Iruno lured the girl into his house, covered her with a bed sheet and raped her. The victim was afraid to report the incident to her mother.
The victim’s mother realised she was not behaving normally over the days after the incident.
She enquired and found out what happened on Oct 29.
The victim was taken to the Family Support Centre where she was examined.
Iruno was brought in for questioning by the police on Oct 31 last year where he was charged for raping a minor.
