POLICE say a group of armed men stole around K31,500 in cash and valuables from a Filipino at his home in Kokopo last week.
New Guinea Islands divisional police commander and Assistant Commissioner for Police Anthon Billie said the men armed with guns and bush knives entered the home of the manager of the Ulaveo estate in Kokopo on the night of June 5.
“They took money, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of foreign currencies, injuring the man in the process,” Billie said.
The man was taken to the Vunapope Hospital in Kokopo and later flown to Port Moresby for further medical treatment.
He said some of the suspects were known to the guards at the man’s home.
“We are waiting for the guards who were at the premises at the time of the incident to give their statements and identify the suspects.”
