Manam people still suffering

ALTHOUGH I am not from Manam Island in Madang, I have been following the crisis when the islanders were first affected by the volcanic eruption in 2004 displacing them to Bogia 11 years ago. I was watching the EMTV programme “Tok Piksa” last Tuesday and listened to a survivor expressing his disappointment on how the past and present governments had neglected the Manam people. The current Madang MPs have turned a blind eye to the suffering of the Manam people. Maybe Sir Peter Barter should contest the 2017 general election because he is the only leader who has been concerned about the welfare and wellbeing of Madang people.
