Mangape thanks authorities for fair polls

NEW Lagaip-Porgera MP Nixon Mangape has thanked authorities for making the general election free, fair and safe for everyone.
He beat sitting MP and People’s National Congress candidate Philip Kikala.
“I would like to thank my people for their support and also the election officials for conducting a free, safe and fair election for everyone that was successfully completed with my declaration,” Mangape said.
He said there were many challenges ahead for him as a member for the electorate but promised he would do his best to serve the people.
Mangape said the electorate was blessed with a world-class gold mine (Porgera) and the exciting Mt Kare exploration at its advanced stage.
He urged the people to live a trouble-free life for tangible developments to take place in the electorate.
“We have many issues to deal with and priorities for the next five years and I will enforce the Review of the Porgera MoA Review, Resettlement of SML Landowners, Fly-In Fly-Out Agreement Review and Law and Order issues in Laiagam and Porgera,” he said.
The member said that he would look at improving the district administration, health and education services, boost agriculture in the district and also improve the road network in Lagaip-Porgera.
He will join a political party that was willing to assist him achieve his priorities, he said.
“I’m an independent member, not sponsored by any political party.
“So I will sit and discuss with my core campaign team and advisors so that we must join a party and be in government, not the opposition.”
