POLICE Commissioner David Manning has condemned the attack on a home of a senior police officer and vowed that everyone involved will be charged.
Inspector Robert Wane, in charge of the Policing the Police Task Force Team, was not at home at the Gerehu police barracks when it came under attack allegedly by a policeman and a civilian.
Manning said: “This is unbecoming.
“These people who carried out the attack are criminals. We will ensure that all involved in the attack, either directly or indirectly, will be rounded up and dealt with. We will show them no mercy.”
He admitted that there were criminals in uniform in the police force.
“I am committed to exposing and disposing of them,” he said.
“They have continuously displayed a total lack of basic moral values.
“They do not respect the laws. They do not have any sense of duty, commitment or loyalty and act as if they are a law unto themselves. Their free reign ends now.”
He has directed the standing down of all police reservists nationwide effective on Sept 15.
The exceptions are those engaged as approved with certain organisations.
The police reservists are expected to return all police-issued items including uniforms, radios, guns and ammunition by Monday Sept 14.
“Anyone caught with these items after Sept 14 will be charged with impersonation or in possession of police issued items,” Manning said.
