Manning looking to rebuild constabulary

POLICE Commissioner David Manning wants to rebuild and improve the constabulary to be an agent of change.
Comm Manning, who is the National Pandemic Controller, said this at a commissioner’s parade at the Bomana Police College in Port Moresby on Friday which was attended by Prime Minister James Marape, Police Minister Bryan Kramer and Health Minister Jelta Wong.
Three companies were on parade, commanded by Chief Supt Norman Kambo. Comm Manning said command and control needed to be strengthened in order to see change.
He wanted to be seen as the people’s commissioner.
“I want to be known as the policemen’s commissioner as well, committed to your growth personally as a human being and collectively as a member of the constabulary,” he said.
“I am committed to the improvement of training and capacity-building of our members and in the overall physical infrastructure development of our police service. While it is a mammoth task, we need to put this organisation back on track again to advance to the next phase of our development.
“I want to work towards a well-equipped and professional police service that is committed towards working in partnership with the community.”

  • The fact of the matter is our PNG Constabulary needed to build Self discipline as most of the cops are bunch of undisciplined barbarians and sub-standard backward uneducated fools!

  • Yes we needed police force which the people run to for help and not to be frightened of them and run to security guards for help when in trouble.
    Uneducated police force is a cancer to the country as PNG can’t progress.
    When those fool uneducated people with blue uniforms think that they are very special and know the low when they don’t know anything in their empty skulls.

  • Commissioner should strive to retain the ‘Royal’ title as that title was earned by our forefathers and not the Constabulary of today as much of their performance of late stoop so low, below the ‘Royal’ standard set by those policeman bilong bipo.

  • Commissioner, too much talking and with many plans /ideas, action and implement now.

  • There are hard working policemen like Junior Wagambie suppose to be the Commissioner.I didn’t even hear DM’s name in the police force before he became Commissioner.
