DAVID Manning is reportedly been confirmed as Police Commissioner, after acting in the position for three months.
A gazette to be released today is to confirm his appointment as the country’s 17th police chief.
His three-month acting appointment lapsed last Tuesday, Dec 3.
Although Prime Minister James Marape nor Police Minister Bryan Kramer could confirm the appointment yesterday, news of Manning’s appointment went viral on social media last weekend with an official Government fan Facebook page breaking the news.
Manning took up the position in August after his predecessor Francis Tokura vacated it to resume his role as the Bougainville Police Service Commander to oversee the security operations during the Bougainville referendum.
Tokura was appointed acting Commissioner in July after the National Executive Council revolved Gari Baki’s appointment as the 16th Police Commissioner.
