THE Manus open electorate does not have project, progressive or financial reports of more than K13 million to allow the release of new funds.
Member for Manus open and Vice-Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Ronny Knight said that a visit to the Office of Rural Development has indicated that the district cannot access new or existing development funds until acquittals have been provided.
He said that over the past five years, before he became member of parliament, K18 million was given to the electorate Manus is made up of one electorate and one province unlike other districts in PNG.
He said that out of the money, K13 million was unaccounted for over the period, while the entire report for 2012 was also not presented to the office of the rural development.
He said so far, there was only K5 million remaining for development projects in the district but he was told he could not access the money.
He said that he was only a new member and could not provide the acquittals because he had no idea of how the money was used.
of how the funds were expanded.
Knights said that there are processes now the department can follow-up of how the funds were used like conducting investigations than depriving him and his administration of the wrong of someone.
“ I have written to the authorities to release the funds for my electorate.
