ADMIRALTY played their hearts out on Saturday and kept the National Soccer League champions Hekari scoreless, in the opening match of the Round 4 double-header in Port Moresby.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw, which was satisfying for Hekari but a massive boost in confidence for the Manus provincial government-sponsored side.

Hekari team manageress Vonnie Kapi Natto said Admiralty seemed to be getting the rub of the green when it came to some calls by the referee.

Despite copping a red card, she said her side was focused on getting through the match unscathed.

She said the size of the Correctional Institutional Training Oval at Bomana was not regulation size, saying that did not allow her side the space to play its usual attacking style.

“The pitch in Lae was perfect for us, this one here in Bomana is small but we have no choice.

“We understand the difficulties the NSL is going through, and like all other clubs, we just want play, and we will play,” Kapi Natto said.

She was satisfied with her side’s performance despite the challenges they faced.

She congratulated Admiralty for their effort giving them the thumbs up.
